Christmas songs don’t count. And even though this may not quite qualify either (at least for my own generation), I’ve adored it for 40 years. So there! Plus, I think I owe it to you after Dennis Day.
This performance is from Live Aid in the 1980’s. (The song runs only the first 5:15 here.)
Always one of my favorites. Then, most things by Queen were to my tastes.

A tragic funny to this song. I was 15 and decided to play this tune for my mom. Unfortunately, I was a slightly clueless kid and wondered why she started crying, not ever thinking that the lyrics would remind her of her daughter who was in prison at the time. Duh. Still a fabulous tune though. 🙂

T4T – did she ever listen to other Queen stuff?

Not at the time she wasn’t a rock music lover. She is almost 80 now so she probably wouldn’t now either. 😉

Hey Moe! (Yes, said in my Curly voice!) Nice to see Freddie Mercury, he’s been on my mind lately. Just came over to share the good tidings — speaking of the season — and it’s in your neck of the woods, even. We just had an active duty police officer come out Anonymous in South Florida. My heard is filled with gladness. This is the beginning of the trumpet blast at Jericho. ❤ http://medic343.wordpress.com/2013/12/07/can-i-get-an-amen/

So Xavier, is this a trend now – is there an “I am Anonymous’ thing going on? Between them, Snowden, Manning. Assange and good old Glenn Greenwald looks like there’s definitely a movement to take the ‘masks’ off others, off those hiding behind the masks as they watch our every move.
By the way, there’s a Freddie movie in the works, a bio pic. Dont know much about it, but I’m sure looking forward to it.

🙂 Yeah — Guy Fawkes IS the new Spartacus! This one in particular, though, is going to go down in history as the first police officer, mark my words.
Can’t wait to see the biopic 🙂 After I wrote this, I was listening to my radio while walking and “Killer Queen” came on — ah, synchronicity.

Holy smokes, Moe — it’s not just us! Look, they’re actually turning Freddie into a meme!! http://www.quickmeme.com/img/f6/f60dcb10ea3fbbad8e2296610e849cabb443d240188d50fbf4d63aa319d22b19.jpg

A little sad since that pic is from the video of “The Show Must Go On” which, when my one wife and I heard it first time we both looked at each other and said that Freddie was dying…and we were right.

That is sad. But you know what? I’d rather have the photo where Freddie was on his way down look just like that, and be that meme, too. Go down looking fabulous, fist in the air. ❤

Nobody outside of the industry insiders know either. It was scheduled to start shooting in 2011 but nothing was mentioned since then. I’m not even sure if the project is still a go.

Well that’s disappointing news. Maybe Netflix should do it. I just hope someone does it before my personal heart of rock and roll goes deaf!
