Cheney still keepin’ it classy

chickenhawk-cheney-billboardPure patriot is our Dick – these comments from a former Vice President will serve so well the interests of The United States out in the wider world. Thanks for having our back you creep.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Saturday night that President Barack Obama has jeopardized U.S. national security by nominating substandard candidates for key cabinet posts and by degrading the U.S. military.

Right. Because you didn’t tear the military to shreds with two wars over a decade –  unless soldier suicides don’t count. And it doesn’t count that the military is overwhelmed with caring for those with traumatic head injuries. Or that we became so desperate for new cannon fodder that the Army lowered standards to accept felons. Mr. “I had other priorities” went on:

“The performance now of Barack Obama as he staffs up the national security team for the second term is dismal,” Cheney said in comments to about 300 members of the Wyoming Republican Party.

Cheney, a Wyoming native, said it was vital to the nation’s national security that “good folks” hold the positions of secretary of state, CIA director and secretary of defense.

Like Rumsfeld, who Bush wanted to fire but was continually blocked by Cheney.

“Frankly, what he has appointed are second-rate people,” he said.

Like I said, keeping it classy.

  1. Yee-haw! I imagine that he too, like Robert Duval’s character in Apocalypse Now, loves ” . . . the smell of napalm in the morning”. Probably fitting that he has a machine for a heart (last I heard, anyway).

  2. And he knows they’re substandard, how?

  3. Never a dull moment when this certifiable asshole speaks…

  4. And when he’s gone there is another whole generation of assholes to comment.

  5. Oh well. I guess seeing him be angry about something gives me a little twinge of happiness…crawled out of his crypt to bellyache about this, eh?

    • Good point brat – if Cheney is pissed, we must be doing something right!

      • I used to get angry over some of the mean comments from conservatives, until I realized that right now they’re coming from a place of powerless wrath. Then I started enjoying them 🙂

        • Powerless wrath, eurobrat? Sadly, I think that’s wishful thinking. The Tea Party has come close several times to destroying the recovery from W’s disastrous economic collapse and well might achieve it by tolerating the approaching sequester on March 1. Their hatred is boundless. Which reminds me, I wonder who gave John Boehner the lemon he appeared to be sucking on all evening at last night’s SOTU speech?

          • Jim, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him more uncomfortable. I feel sorry for Boeher actually – he knows those people looking back at him are going to make his life miserable. Speaker of a Congress that has THREE parties . . . now that’s a big problem …

          • Sigh, you may be right. Oh, and I think somebody tweeted that Boehner looked like overcooked fetuccine alfredo…that seems about correct 🙂

  6. ” Right. Because you didn’t tear the military to shreds with two wars over a decade – unless soldier suicides don’t count. ”

Wow, FDR and Abe Lincoln must have been devastating to the military .

    • Alan – every war tears the military to shreds, chews it up – man and machine – and spits it out. I think you have missed the point. Cheney is trying to transfer the blame. Fail.

    • Moe is right, Alan, you missed the point. The Civil War and WW II both had serious reasons for the sacrifice of blood and treasure, but the Bush/Cheney war did not. Don’t believe us? If you can stand it through your conservative lens, tune into the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC next Monday night. She’s doing a documentary on the subject that I suspect will blow your socks off.

  7. I loved how Jon Stewart went off about Cheney last night for his comments, since, as Jon pointed out, when he was in office, he was wrong about everything. Everything.

There is something obscene about a man who considers it sport to shoot birds placed in the brush after their wings have been clipped. Send him back to his cave.

    • Oh dear marylee, I didn’t know about that wings clipped part? And I didn’t know my opinion of Cheney could fall even further. A sorry sorry human being is he.

  8. Jim ,

I merely demonstrated by being absurd, the nonsensical standard that Vice President Cheney is being held to

Rachael Maddow ? Other than Joe Scarborough, I can’t think of anyone on MSNBC who has a shred of credibility with me . If she were worth my time I have no doubt I could easily counter anything that she could say . It would not matter since there is no reality in media at present . The President lies and they cheer . His promises fail and they find scapegoats .

Anytime you wish to discuss the right or wrong of certain wars , I am available .

    Ms. Holland,
You have confused a reduction in military capability because of budget cuts, with war casulties ..

    • [ If she were worth my time I have no doubt I could easily counter anything that she could say . ]

Alan – I love it when you say stuff like that. You announce that you can disprove what she says but releivve yourself of the responsibility of doing so by saying it’s just not worth your time.. Brilliant!

I will asssume Maddows show,, given the advertised title, is based on Michael Isikofff’s brilliant reporting. So maybe just read his book:
