Donald Trump, Trump, Trump. Serious American, serious Christian.

If you are so inclined, you can attend on Saturday—for only 49 bucks!—a “Family Leadership Summit” in Ames, Iowa, put on by a Christian group called The Family Leader. That group identifies itself this way:
The FAMiLY LEADER champions the principle that God is the ultimate leader of the family. Our goal at The FAMiLY LEADER is to honor and glorify God – not a political party, not a candidate, and not a program. The FAMiLY LEADER is a Christ-centered organization that leads with humility and service to strengthen and protect the family.
The Family Leadership Summit, put on by a group that says it is a non-partisan, Christ-centered organization, features Republicans like Chuck Grassley, Steve King, and Rick Santorum, as well as fast-rising reactionary Ted Cruz from Texas.
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. Highlighting the evening—the last speaker of the day—is that paragon of Christ-centered living, that champion of God-honoring and God-glorifying behavior, Donald Trump.
You can have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, or democracy. But you cannot have both.

I assume he’d tell parables about successful capitalists to warn against becoming one–like the stuff he said about it being easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, or that love of money is the root of all evil. But then I’m no expert.

Seems to me that Jesus favored both socialism and capitalism in the NT, and frankly I see nothing wrong with a blend of the two. If it’s done right. But China is currently showing us how it can be done wrong – they are building for a massive housing bubble according to 60 Minutes yesterday.
I think this kind of argument is a good example of how, as with most other issues, you can find something in the bible to bolster many different positions by cherry-picking your parables, and that’s a major problem with religion. Most denominations cite the bible as the inerrant word of God, that is, something perfect. It isn’t. It’s a long, tedious, sometimes boring and often contradictory patchwork of material written at least a century after the events it describes by anonymous writers in archaic, inconsistent, awkward and often ungrammatical language. To then pick parts of it to support arguments is to abandon reason and surrender to those who are happy to fashion dogma from it.

An excellent example! I looked it up and I see its context is relative to “prophecies”. Just how are the faithful to test prophesies? There’s some irony for you. Take the one in Matthew where Jesus discusses his return:

I find it valuable to constantly test what I believe against those who believe the truth is something else.

Second point, Liberals misquote the Bible frequently. My favorite being ” money is the root of all evil “, Which of course all of you know is not correct.
Yes China is screwing up their real estate. They are the number one builder of ghost towns. Obvious example is Tieling New City. Note to American Central Planners, just cause you build it, that don’t mean they will come.
