Here’s what I’m thinking

I’m thinking the popular vote is a squeaker as predicted, but Obama trounces Romney in the Electoral vote.

  1. You were correct with your Supreme Courth healthcare decision prediction, so I’m going to cross my fingers and toes that this one is right as well 🙂

  2. I think (hope) you are right. And Florida? Part of the trouncing or not?

    • Oh Donald, if only. I can’t figure us out. I’d say Romney is more likely but not a sure thing. Remember ’08 when this country went ‘blue’ by 211 votes? First time ever I think. It’d be nice if it happened again.

  5. I’m hoping we do more than squeak out the popular vote (as well as trouncing in the electoral. But then I’m an optimist. I personally plan to deliver Virginia!

      • Moe, I am a tired but happy Virginian. A tired but happy Connecticut Yankee too. Sanity won. Big money and repression lost. Smarts trumped stupid in many/most cases (although I am bummed that Michelle Bachman squeaked by). I am a very happy citizen.

I’m thinking you’re right. It won’t exactly be a mandate for Obama and the Democrats though. That worries me for 2016.

  7. It doesn’t look that way right now. It’s a bad enough toss up, electoral college-wise, to possibly get nasty.

But Ed’s right in a way; if Romney wins, he and those who believe as he does are F***Ked. I view this as the beginning – just the beginning, mind you – of a better age for a reborn America.

    • Nah. I’m a liberal and I don’t believe I’ll be f***ked in that case. I don’t know where this belief that Mitt is a staunch conservative is coming from. And even if he’s on the more conservative side of things, this will not be the end for us, just another turn in the endless cycle.

  8. Oh, I hope you’re right. I’m feeling nervous about tomorrow night and its implications for the next four years. We don’t need Bush 2.0!

  9. But what if President Obama wins ? You guys had better begin making up more excuses for his failures . The next four years would really be bad , but on the good side there are always Republicans somewhere who can be blamed .

Now if my boy Mitt wins sharpen your knives . No matter how good things get there will always be things that can be distorted, victims to be found, Grandma and Grandpa to scare, and rich bogeymen for OWS to picket .

  11. Obama 281+…
    Popular by 2 to 3%
    Dem’s KEEP Senate
GOP keeps smaller margin in the House

    • My actual prediction is an Obama electoral win – if it’s decided by ballots instead of the courts, which I find unlikely – after a popular vote of +1% or less for Obama – might even be a popular loss for him.

GOP keeps House and probably holds it even more strongly.

Dems keep Senate but loose several seats in it. They might lose the Senate completely but that’s a bit of a long-shot.

The above is for two reasons, one good, one a lot less so:

1 – The MSM has ignored almost everything but the presidential election and, without the MSM to attack the GOP, the GOP normally wins. 2010 anyone?

2 – Simple gerrymandering. The 2010 elections resulted in massive shifts in districts all across the country, almost all of which helped the GOP and hurt the Dems.

      • jonolan – mid term elections like 2010 are not representative of a national mood or consensus. Turn-out is much lower nad generally more partisan. They’re micro – people are voting at a local level. That may be why things turn somewhat two years later during a prez election when coattails come into play.

  12. Good luck with your prediction … meanwhile, I have no clue while hoping it stays out of the courts.
