  4. League of Women Voters more or less uses this for a motto in Florida — The anti-gerrymandering campaign went on from 1939 until the passage of Amendments 5 & 6 two years ago, for example. Are you a member, Moe?

    • Pat, I’m not and I don’t know why! I’ve always admired LWV and their mission. They’ve been the very model of good civic values. I’ll follow your info beow and maybe join.

      • Oh great, Moe! I’ll look forward to meeting you at some League event — and you too, Ed. BTW, did you all know that LWV-Fla has been running people-to-people trips to Cuba for a couple of years now? At about half the price of tour companies but no skimping. When I went, we stayed at the Nacional…I felt like I was in a Fred & Ginger movie.

                • Call the state office if you don’t hear soon — phone number on lwvfla.org. Ask for the Sarasota membership chair or president’s phone # and call. My own local League is bad about the website (gnashing teeth now) — too cheap to hire a professional and the volunteers are…. well, call.

  5. We live in Florida – where do you find such a group?

    • Go to lwvfla.org and look for your local League’s info. If there happens to be no League in your county, contact the state office for info on being a MAL (member at large). State League is quite active and there’s lots a MAL can do. BTW, men have been members since the 70s — but the ‘brand’ is so valuable that we’ve decided to keep the old name. C’mon in — we need you!
