But in the House they “ARE the 9%!”

An overwhelming majority of Americans approved of the overall message in President Obama’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday night, according to a CBS News poll of speech watchers.

According to the poll, which was conducted online by Knowledge Networks immediately after the president’s address, 91 percent of those who watched the speech approved of the proposals Mr. Obama put forth during his remarks. Only nine percent disapproved.

Last year, 83 percent of viewers approved of Mr. Obama’s State of the Union remarks.

  1. Ms. Holland ,
That is one hell of a deceptive way of turning a phrase. The overwhelming majority of Americans did not even watch our lord and master .

  2. What is deceptive about the phrase, “91% of the people WHO WATCHED THE SPEECH”?

    I watched. I approved.

Well, like so many things connected with Obama, it is not an outright lie, , , , but it is worded to give a false impression . An overwhelming majority of Americans is grossly different than a poll of speech watchers .

  4. I may have to side with Alan here…most of the people I knew who disagree with Obama’s policies didn’t want to watch the speech in the first place. So I think those who watched were ones (like me) who already agree with the President. No wonder about the 91%, then.

Now I have to go have a drink after saying that.
