While congress refines its performance art and the media take to their fainting couches, the overlords of our brave new world share a smug smile and head out to their summer houses. Their work is done. For now.

Whatever Works
Right on Moe! They are the welfare queens. The poor, the needy and the elderly, well in their words, screw you, as we want the money for ourselves.

And those poor TP suckers out there who think God is on their side. Wait till Mom’s SS check takes a hit!

One of these days, reality is going to smack them up on the head, and then wonder what the hell went wrong.
I hope to hell their moms give them a good old fashion ass whipping.

All hail the United Corporations of America
Yes I admit that if we are going to have a corporate tax, we should not have the loopholes that allow those corporations to pay no tax. That said, if we tax our corporations more than any other nation in the world, it should surprise no one that those corporations take their profit in some other country.
I’ll support closing loopholes if you support dramatically lowering the tax rate.
Wait till Mom’s SS check takes a hit!
You do know that every single reform of SS to date doesn’t impact anyone younger than 55 today.
Right?

pino, corporate tax rates are high but it doesn’t matter for the biggest corps. They move from country to country wherever they get the best deal and they end up effectively paying no federal taxes. They didn’t move offshore because of taxes; they moved off shore because of cheaper labor. Taxes didn’t even come into it because they managed not to pay taxes then either. When we gave them a ‘tax holiday’ to come home a few yeears back, they did – but they moved right out again when it expired.
Whatever the corporate rate, don’t think for a minute that they have any allegiane to this country or its future. There’s a whole world out there.
SS? Yeah, you’re right. I was being snarky. But I’ll tell you, if I were still 55 I’d be horrified. You may not like it, but for the last 75 years, low wage earners have counted SS into thier retirement plans. Medium earners too.

Right.
So why shouldn’t we be competitive regarding the tax rate so that we become one of the “best deal” nations?
They didn’t move offshore because of taxes; they moved off shore because of cheaper labor.
When a corporation hires someone, they don’t only look at wage; they look at “burden”. That is, what is my “burden cost” to hire, train, maintain and fire this worker. This takes into account vacations, paid time off, medical care and all of that. Yes, corporations look to find the lowest cost labor in the same way they look to find the lowest cost lumber.
Now that we know this, why do we insist on artificially forcing our labor costs up?

Actually, I said it wrong, but you corrected me. Anyone OLDER.
Those people would have been better off had they contributed to a mutual fund than SS.

Ms. Holland ,
Why don’t you become an owner of one of these evil corporations ? You guys complain about how much money they make . You will be taxed on whatever gain you have and in that way those corporate taxes will get paid, , once. Then to paraphrase Saturday Night Live, ” finally you can hate yourself ” .
I personally own parts of thousands of corporations and I really resent you guys constantly attacking my retirement program .
