How does a Republican go from his superhero-of-myth status to RINO? By speaking ill of the Delaware primary winner who will now cost the GOP a Senate seat – one that would have been a certainty with the establishment GOP candidate. And so for Karl Rove – the uber Party man – it’s bye bye and don’t let my boot hit you on the way out. I suppose William F. Buckley is next for the chopping block, dead or not.

I just finished watching Karl Rove trashing GOP Senate primary winner Christine O’Donnell. It was on Sean Hannity’s FNC show. Might as well have been Olbermann on MSNBC. The establishment Beltway strategist couldn’t even bother with an obligatory word of congratulations for O’Donnell. He criticized her “character” and “rectitude” and claimed she hadn’t answered questions about her financial woes. She did so here. Rove mocked her security concerns as “nutty.” Yet, her concerns have been more than justified. See here (second video clip).
Rove came across as an effete sore loser instead of the supposedly brilliant and grounded GOP strategist that he’s supposed to be. Expect more Washington Republicans to start sounding like Tea Party-bashing libs as their entrenched incumbent friends go down. (Hot Air has the Rove/Hannity video.)
Sorry Karl, you are so yesterday.
You can have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, or democracy. But you cannot have both.

And now the war breaks out between Levin talk radio host and Weekly Standard over O’Donnell.
“In the run-up to Delaware’s Republican Senate primary, conservative media figures noticed that their colleagues are “lazy and unfair” “idiot[s]” and “mouthpieces for the Republican establishment” who engage in “ranting, not serious arguments” and whose commentary consists of “smear tactics,” “mischaracterizations,” “exaggerated claims,” “slander,” and “attributing sinister or corrupt motives to those who disagree with them.””

Karl Rove showed his a$$. Personally, I’m thrilled Ms. O’Donnell won. Castle was a stark-raving liberal hiding in a Republican suit. I hope the rest of the RINOs wake up and realize that conservative Americans are going to vote conservative … not for the party line.
I’m not too worried about giving up Senate seats. I want the seats to be given to true conservatives … not CINOs, and I suspect it won’t take too many elections to accomplish that.

Wow – we’ve moved from RINO to CINO already? That conservative label keeps moving, doesn’t it.
In 1967 Kevin Phillips wrote a very influential book, The Coming Conservative Majority, foretelling the conservative revolution. I think it did happen and now it’s winding down. Once the economy improves – certainly before 2012 – those lost congressional seats are going to be lost for good.
I expected, however, that last night would make you happy Steve!

I do understand the anger among conservatives – ‘conservative’ politicians have just not delivered on shrinking gov’t or balancing the budget or on any of the social issues. My own theory is that it hasn’t happened because the goals aren’t based on reality, they’re based on an ideology and you can’t govern with ideology.
