Rings true for me

New York Magazine has a lenghty piece about Jon Stewart in the current issue. From it:

“Jon is exactly the same guy he’s always been, only with money,” says Denis Leary, a friend since 1986. “He knows that the moment he really believes he’s important, the funny goes away and he becomes Bill O’Reilly, except shorter and Jewish.”

That sounds about right.

  1. Hello, Moe. I am so excited right now that I can barely contain it. I have been posting with you for a while now, and I thought long and hard over whether or not I wanted to tell you this. I told Brian, for my own reasons. Once again, I apologize for posting off subject, but because you don’t give out your email (I don’t blame you), and you don’t have a contact, this is my only option. I can understand if you would be reluctant to take me seriously, as I can get out there pretty far. But what I am about to tell you is 100% true. I have been very fake. I have created a homophobic, semi-racist tough guy shell around me in life, and on the internet, to hide something about me that I have always known but never wanted to accept. You were right when you said that I spent time here because I was searching for truth. You probably already know what is coming. I can understand if you want to moderate this comment off your blog, as this comment is for you and personal. Personally, I don’t care either way. I am trying to work up the nerve to come out in life, but coming out on the internet is much easier and a good start. I have already been telling people I know online, and I have told my father, but that is it. I have met someone. I am in love! His name is Luther, and he lives in Ohio. We have been chatting for a while now. He is much older than me, at 51. He is a registered nurse in the cinci area! I realize that this post is totally inappropriate, but I just got off the phone with him and I just got to tell someone I am so excited! This guy is for real. I can imagine that you may be shocked and taken back, or even angry that I would use your page for something like this. I am just so excited that my head is swimming. I will try to get him to start a wordpress blog, and come visit your site so that you can sort of meet him. I am so happy that I could float.

    • Here’s how I feel about your news Sam – I feel proud of you for commiting to your true self. I feel happy for you that you have found someone. I am delighted for you to hear the hope and optimism in your voice.

Am I surprised? Yeah, I am. At the same time though, I always observed a lot of conflict in your comments which was why I believed you were a ‘searcher’.

So good for you young man! And I’m leaving this right here because we are a sort of community and other commenters know you. And out, after all, is out!

  2. Thanks, Moe. I can really start to see my life take shape. I am so excited words cannot describe.

    • A thought for you: since you are now out, you might look for opportunities in your area to meet other gays – not necessarily for romance, for support. Here, there is a big bowling league that bowls once a week. Mostly gay men of all ages. I think something like would be a wonderful thing for you to check out.

  3. (I need to log in) Thanks, Moe. I would look into something like that, but it would scare poor Luther half to death. He is so far away. Which makes this kind of tough – but we are managing! We send each other webcam vids and pics, and talk on the phone, but that is the extent of it. We are talking about me coming up to Ohio for a few days, will have to see how this goes. We actually met on Topix. I had posted a thread entitled “Am I a Homosexual?” in the gay and lesbian forum. He went by the moniker “His Own”. He started out actually trying to witness to me from a christian perpesctive as a former gay, and towards the end of the thread I expressed an interest in him, gave him my email, and TADA! The whole thing is still there, it just has to be searched on site under the gay and lesbian forum – google will not pull it up. I warn you not to read it. Very Graphic. With that said, I am just so happy. Accept for my dad who has been saying “Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve” over and over ’till I’m sick. I suppose I will just have to get use to that sort of thing, ’cause I am very bold by nature. A real flaunter. Anyway, I will try not to bore you with anymore of this – it just felt so good coming clean here. I had really showed my ass on your site for a while, now. Just feels good coming clean… Thanks, Moe!
