They got that right.

John Cole at Balloon Juice quotes Jon Walker at Firedoglake. And says he agrees with every word. And so do I.

Cole is also floating a scathing new meme re Dems: “The 59-seat minority”.

Walker says:

“They [Dems] have zero excuses for failing to deliver. Americans will not find some nonsense about having only 59 Senate seats as an acceptable excuse for failing to accomplish anything. If Democrats think they can win in 2010 by running against Republican obstructionism, they will lose badly.

Not only will Democrats lose badly if they adopt this strategy, but they will be laughed at. Republicans never had 59 Senate seats, and that did not stop them from passing the legislation they wanted. Trying to explain to the American people how, despite controlling everything, Democrats cannot do anything, because a mean minority of 41 Republican senators won’t let them, is a message that will go over like a lead balloon. If you try to use that excuse, people will think elected Democrats are liars, wimps, idiots, or an ineffectual combination of all three.”

To be fair, the Dems are not trying to do “anything”. What they are trying to do is sprint as far LEFT as possible and then expect us to buy it.

America voted them in because the were angry at Repubs, not because we suddenly shifted to the radical Left.

people will think elected Democrats are liars, wimps, idiots, or an ineffectual combination of all three.

    People will think that regardless.

    • [America voted them in . . .]

Well, that’s the point right there Pino. America voted the Democrats into office. Whether they’re doing a good job or not, they are the ones America choose to enact an agenda at this point.

You need to accept that simple fact and then judge it from there as you wish.

I would propose that there has not been any particularly radical left leaning policies enacted recently in the US.

Perhaps because of the particularly charged partisan political environment, it may seem so, but the current regime would be categorized center-right if anything.

Obama is a centerist at best. The charges of radical leftism fall quite short in terms of veracity and evidence.

  5. Arborist has it exactly right. Obama’s biggest contributor in the campaign was Goldman Sacks. Must have been because he was such a socialist!

Obama is a typical American centrist, to the great disappointment of the left. When saving capitalism for capitalists is defined as socialist or leftist, I shudder to imagine what some people consider to be right leaning.
